AKKA IAS Academy was established in Delhi in 2011 by Dr. Shivakumara, who is a well-known and notable Kannada scholar. The Academy derives its inspiration from Akka Mahadevi who was a popular 12th century poetess (Vachanakarthi) in kannada Vachana Movement. This IAS Academy is aimed to provide quality coaching for all UPSC & KPSC aspirants at reasonable cost, especially for all Rural and Poor students who due to fnancial constraints are unable to aim to take Civil Services Examinations in India.

There is a general belief that qualifying UPSC & KPSC is possible only for those candidates who are economically affuent, who speak English fuently, and children of Bureaucrats. In addition to this, it is believed by many that Rural students who study in regional mediums can not qualify this exam, particularly students from disadvantaged sections can not join good coaching centres.
